Death from an Accident in Singapore Before a Policy Starts
Understand the coverage window for accidental death in Singapore as defined by the Life Insurance Association.
Understanding the Coverage Window
Life Insurance Association Singapore (LIA) explains that certain life insurance products may offer coverage for death caused directly and solely by an accident in Singapore. This coverage applies during a specific period: from the time the insurance company receives the completed and signed application form together with full payment for the first premium, up to the start date of the policy.
This means there is a defined interval before the policy officially begins where accident-related death coverage can apply, provided the policy terms include it.
Conditions and Scope
For coverage to apply, the death must be caused directly and solely by an accident. The accident must occur in Singapore. Additionally, the insurance company must have received both the completed and signed application form and the full first premium payment.
