Pre-Policy Accident Death Coverage in Singapore
Learn about coverage for accidental death in Singapore between application and policy start.
Understanding Pre-Policy Accident Coverage
According to the Life Insurance Association Singapore (LIA), certain life insurance policies may provide coverage if the insured dies directly and solely as a result of an accident in Singapore. This coverage applies during the period between when the insurance company receives the completed and signed application form together with full payment for the first premium, and the start date of the policy.
Conditions and Scope
The coverage is specific: the death must be caused directly and solely by an accident that occurs in Singapore. This means accidents outside Singapore or deaths with other contributing causes may not be covered. The coverage only exists before the policy’s official start date, filling a gap while the application is being processed.
